Key Stage II
World War II - Children at War The Home Front and Evacuation
This demonstration leads your pupils to empathise with evacuees through role play and the use of original and replica artefacts. The ups and downs of everyday life are demonstrated through various wartime problems for example food and clothes rationing, the "Make do and Mend" campaign and the wartime blackout and blitz.
For a whole day visit additional activities can include make a gas mask, Dig for Victory and wartime toys and games.
Key Stage I
The History of Toys from the Victorian Period to the 1960's
This demonstration takes a look at my childhood toys, my parents toys and grandparents toys using period photographs and original and replica artefacts, the children will get to play with original and replica toys.Key Stage I and Key Stage II
Playground Games/Toys
This demonstration introduces children to traditional playground games and toys, for example, skipping and clapping games, whip and top, hoops, hobby horses, cup and ball etc.
This session can be combined with a Victorian School or Toys Session for a lively and informative activity.Victorian Schoolroom
This demonstration allows your pupils to participate in creating a Victorian Classroom in their own school. Based on primary source material e.g. Log Books children will be educated appropriate to their age.
